Sock of the week: Merino Hiking Socks

Went hiking two weekends ago on the Appalachian Trail (AT) just for a quick overnight and wore some amazing Merino wool socks. They were light weight, cushioned, REI hiking socks. It rained on the one day and was pretty hot the next, but my feet kept dry. If they did get wet, the socks dried extremely quickly. I wore them both days, just let them air out in the tent and they were good to go the next day. I naturally went looking for a cheaper version and found these Darn Tough awesome socks.

I got these and decided to take a quick day hike to try them out. It was only a 5.5 mile loop, didn’t rain, and was only low 70’s, but they still worked great. Just as comfy, if not a little bit more than my other pair. Merino wool is light and a great alternative to cotton. It keeps warm when it gets wet and also dries pretty quickly. I’d highly recommend these Merino wool Hiking socks. They get the Awesome Socks seal of approval!
